         Welcome to ELESIG!

Welcome to ALT-ELESIG!

Welcome to ALT-ELESIG!

Our proposal to become a SIG within the umbrella of ALT has been successful!

On 18th July 2019, we have been approved as a Special Interest Group as ALT-ELESIG.

What will this mean?

Our aims will remain the same with the added benefits of becoming a part of the wider community of ALT.

Come and find out more at ALT-C in Edinburgh on 3-5th September where we will have our official launch:

  • 3rd Sep, 17.00 - as part of the ALT Assembly
  • 5th Sep, 11.00-12.00 as a SIG meeting of ALT-ELESIG members.

A quick reminder of how this decision was made: early 2019, the ELESIG Organising Committee ran a consultation with all our members to consider ELESIG’s future directions (see consultation document) via a survey emailed to all members via our ning site. Altogether 70 members responded (of 2400 members on elesig.ning site).

Some highlights of the positive results in terms of the value of ELESIG to members include (please see the survey report in PDF for full details):

  • Two-thirds of members responding indicated a preference for becoming a SIG within ALT.
  • What members value (and want to keep) as distinct in ELESIG is its focus on learning experience over technology, and on research and evaluation & sharing methods.
  • Members also value the inclusiveness of ELESIG, it is seen a friendly and collegial group.
  • Members indicated wishing to continue with successful and useful activities such as webinars and local/regional events (with extending these to national/international events).

Thank you all for your contributions and looking forward to progressing and building our community from strength to strength.

Tunde Varga-Atkins (Chair) and Vicki Dale (Secretary)
